The best quirky venues in Shoreditch for events

Known for its instagrammable streets and young creatives, Shoreditch is an edgy and achingly cool suburb of London filled with fashionable clubs and bars surrounding its High Street; it’s no wonder people want to be part of its atmospheric buzz.

With a lot of our clients looking to host their events in quirky and unusual venues, we asked Venue Sourcing Exec, Kirsten Sorensen to put together some of her favourite finds for private events. Since joining the company earlier this year, Kirsten has shown us that she loves nothing more than interrogating a brief in depth, exploring various avenues to ensure we provide delegates with an unforgettable experience.

SHOREDITCH PLATFORM
Shoreditch Platform

Location: Heart of Shoreditch
Event space: One main event space with a capacity of 20 – 200
Suitability: Small conferences, board meetings, dinners, awards, experiential, product launches, receptions and celebrations
Kirsten’s thoughts: From the outside, the space really is a treat for the eyes. Inside, the walls are covered in monochrome murals which gives an industrial creative finish. With a capacity for 200 pax, this quirky loft can host all types of events.

DINERAMA
Dinerama, Shoreditch

Location: Heart of Shoreditch
Event space: Six event spaces with a capacity of 15 – 1000 pax
Suitability: Conferences, dinners, awards, experiential, exhibition, product launches, receptions and celebrations
Kirsten’s thoughts: This is a really cool venue set in on an old bullion truck yard – it is ultimate food heaven! (or hell if you’re on a diet!) The venue is spread across two levels, the ground being made up by various food vendors. The venue has retractable roofs too so it’s perfect throughout all seasons.

QUEEN OF HOXTON, HOXTON SQ. AND BOOK CLUB
Queen of Hoxton Shoreditch

Location: Close to Shoreditch high street station
Event space: Three event spaces over three floors, each with a capacity of 50 – 550
Suitability: Meetings, dinner, experiential, product launch, reception, Christmas parties and celebrations
Kirsten’s thoughts: As these spaces are located in the same building, they’re fairly similar in terms of event space. With that in mind though, they all offer different experiences – a mixture of club and hipster. The Queen of Hoxton features a rooftop terrace which is customised every summer and winter. This year, they transformed it into ‘Lost Vegas’.

THE CURTAIN (5* Hotel)
The Curtain, Shoreditch

Location: Heart of Shoreditch
Event space: 10 spaces with a capacity of 20 – 350
Suitability: Conference, internal meeting, dinner, awards, experiential, product launch, reception and celebrations
Kirsten’s thoughts: I LOVE this hotel; on arrival the hotel has an ultra-sleek charm mixed with a modern laid back atmosphere. Walking around the hotel you will notice eclectic artwork within its playful event spaces. The rooftop is the main attraction of the hotel, complete with a bar and pool area where you will catch Shoreditch hipsters drinking margaritas!

THE HOXTON (4* Hotel)
The Hoxton, Shoreditch

Location: Close to New Street Station
Event space: 7 event spaces with capacity ranging from 4 – 250
Suitability: Conference, meetings, dinner, awards, exhibition, experiential, product launch, reception & celebrations
Kirsten’s thoughts: Entering the hotel I noticed how laid-back this hotel was with people checking-in in the open plan reception, people sitting on their MacBook Airs and chatting with work colleagues. This is a business-oriented hotel, is well connected and has great event space which can cater for small to mid-size events.

THE NOBU (5* Hotel)
The Nobu, Shoreditch

Location: Close to New Street Station
Event space: Six event spaces with capacity ranging from 10 – 200
Suitability: Conference, meetings, dinner, awards, experiential, product launch, reception & celebrations
Kirsten’s thoughts: Walking up to this hotel, it’s impossible to not say ‘wow’ at its impressive structure. It’s designed to look unfinished; to mirror its ever-changing surroundings of Shoreditch. This hotel is luxurious and sleek with a Japanese-like atmosphere. The event space is self-contained and versatile; a as you can add or remove space dependant on your needs.
