We were approached to organise a global management conference for a FTSE 250 business that had four separate operating divisions.
The divisions primarily operated in silos and the business wanted to implement a change programme to reposition themselves as a central support function whilst at the same time encouraging leaders to adopt a collaborative approach in how they worked.
Each of the businesses had their own strong operating procedures and delivered quality services to clients. The conference message needed to recognise the importance of continuing to provide this quality, tried and tested capability but at the same time position the need to change the mind-set of the senior leaders from a solution led business to one of a challenger mind-set.
By exploring the environment facing the businesses and inquisitive discussions with the client we were able to develop an event programme, agenda, identity and concept that would launch and drive the behavioural change. We provided tools and systems that could easily be adopted by each business in their respective operating companies yet still have a common and central message.
We developed the programme as the client’s very own ‘Live Network’ bringing together 150 leaders of the organisation. The meeting theme was ‘Innovation Through Collaboration’ and used a combination of sharing best practice, facilitated workshops, external speakers and environment exhibits to deliver meaningful content.
A key component of the event was a novel custom-built digital network. Responses to questions collated pre-event were used to facilitate networking, provide insights and focus people and groups into specialist interest groups. The use of the system allowed attendees to make different connections and encouraged collaborative behaviour. It was also used as a post-event tool to develop an online community to ensure core messages were cascaded and shared post-conference.
The conference was a huge success and achieved all the objectives set. The delivery team ensured the concept was brought to life in a highly effective and memorable environment. We are now working with the client to use the event and the tools and systems developed, as a communication platform to leverage collaboration and harness innovation across the business.
